The last and best skate shop was So Hip It Hurts (http://www.sohipithurts.ca/). After speaking with 2 employees, digging through the stacks of mags, and getting Geetsikha on a penny board, we finally got some tanglible intel...
"It's too cold to skate in winter. Skaters worry about their boards cracking in the cold. The season starts back up on Go Skateboarding Day, June 21st."
Where do they skate instead?
"There are a couple of indoor skate parks. A couple outdoor places, if it's not too cold. Also, some skaters will rent/own lofts and build parks."
More to come on the indoor parks later. We're headed to CJs this afternoon (http://cjskateboardpark.com/). We'll be sure to ask about private lofts.
