Skateboard Style Cheat Sheet

Vert Skateboarding – the most recognized, big trick, halfpipe type of skateboarding.  Utilizing ramps, grinding rails, etc. to perform tricks and usually oriented around big-air moves.  Think X-Games.

·         Where you’ll find them: Indoor Skateparks

Urban Skateboarding – environment oriented skateboarding typically where standard trick decks are used to perform across public objects (benches, chairs, tables, stairs, etc.)
·         Most likely Geo: NYC, LA
·         Where you’ll find them: Large Urban Cities, Indoor/Outdoor Skateparks

Longboarding – no ramps/minimal tricks, board must be grounded.  Longboards are extremely heavy and resemble more of a snowboard.  You’ll find longboarders on steep roads and declined highways trying to carve and let gravity do the work for them.

Freestyle – upcoming form of skating that’s originating from the west coast.  Requires a higher level of balance, typically the riders are gymnasts or dancers.  Will be hard to find these skaters as they are more uncommon to see in public.

·         Where you’ll find them: ???.. anywhere really.  Could be inside, outside, doesn’t require any specific tangible item to accomplish the tricks.
